I Liked It!
Cheater’s Regret is the second book in the Curious Liaisons Series by Rachel Van Dyken and focus’s on Austin and Thatch and it is amazing! I loved the back and forth between these characters and trying to figure out why Thatch pushed Austin away and watching Austin struggle with her feelings for Thatch and trying (not so well) to get over him!
Thatch and Austin were supposed to be a one night stand, but ended up as more and everything was going great, till he kissed another girl and broke Austin’s heart. All she wanted to know was why Thatch would do something like this to her and after wallowing in her pain, she starts a plan of revenge thanks to a drunken slip-up from Lucas (Thatch’s best friend) to Avery (Austin’s best friend and Lucas’s girlfriend) about all things Thatch. I was laughing out loud at Austin’s antics to make Thatch try to come clean about why he cheated and her revenge plans, until he decided to start playing too. When they decided to call a truce when Austin needed help with a school project is when things definitely got interesting.
This story was a bit predictable at times, but the dialogue between these two and the antics of both characters definitely keeps you on your toes while reading it. Thatch definitely has some secrets as to why he pushed Austin away, and as the story progresses you can start to figure things out, but when it all comes out, your heart will break for both him and Austin, but how Austin dealt with it really showed how mature she was. She showed how strong she was and how Thatch should have just talked it all through with her and come to a decision with her instead of making one on his own that ended up almost destroying them.
These two characters had a lot of growing up to do in this book, but as you read it, you’ll see they are definitely better together then they are apart, because apart, they are a complete mess. I loved them together, they were hilarious, sweet, and definitely hot and sexy! Watching these two together is something you can imagine playing out on a TV show. The dialogue is just that amazing in this book! And for those of you who have read Cheater, seeing Lucas and Avery popping in here and there was just as amazing as well.
This was a great romantic comedy that had me laughing and on the edge of my seat rooting for the two of them. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for something that will have you laughing out loud, and if you’re looking for a little bit of angst. Rachel Van Dyken just has a way with words and Cheater’s Regret is another example of how amazing her writing is!
