I Loved It!
This book had me caught up from the moment I started till the second I put it down, and even then it took me a full day before I could write a review. Love Sex Music by Michelle A. Valentine is a beautifully written romance that deals with some hard issues, but is truly a beautiful love story that will have you falling in love with Drea and Laz and everything they have to go through to get a chance at a HEA!
Drea is the girl in the shadows, she has her dreams, but always stays behind so others can shine. She has her secrets and she feels as if they are holding her back and she can’t have her happiness, so instead she pushes her step-sister Candace towards the lime-light and towards their shared dream. She never expected Laz to hear her sing and offer her a chance to audition for the all girl group he was putting together along with Candace. I loved how Drea gave him grief and how instantly you knew these two were going to be at odds with one another but also were going to end up not being able to keep their hands off of one another.
Laz is what some would say is a “wash up” in the music business. He was on top of the world, but he let drugs and his own demons bring him down. Now that he’s clean he just wants his chance to prove he can be someone again, and he’s definitely tested when he’s charged with putting this all girls group together and told to keep his hands off the talent. Watching him do everything and anything stay away from Drea is hilarious and sad at the same time. These two are definitely meant to be with one another, and they balance one another out, but too much is at play and too much is at risk for both of them if they took the chance.
Watching Drea come out of her shell as she starts her journey with the group and watching her start to open up about her past really was amazing. I loved seeing that side of her, and at times I wanted to cry right along with her. I hate how she thought she was a bad person for the things she went through as a young girl, and the choices she made, but I love how strong it ended up making her. Her openness with Laz and the friendship they had became beautiful and the one constant in her life when everything was changing, and I truly think this is what kept her together when things seemed to spiral out of control. Watching Laz open up to her as well was something beautiful. Seeing how much he’s changed from the information we were provided about his past was awesome to see, and it sucked watching him have to prove time and time again to everyone else that he was on the up and up, but Drea just took him for his word.
I really and truly adored this book, the ups and downs these two went through, and everything in between. All of the characters (except for two) were beautifully written and played a huge part in this book, and I really couldn’t put it down. This book was exactly what I needed! If you’re looking for a great book to pick up this is definitely the one to one-click, but trust me, you’ll not get anything done once you start reading!
