I Liked It!
There is no one better at angst than M. Robinson, and El Santo is a perfect example of why she’s the best! This book had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down.
Damien is a character that you should definitely hate just because of who he is, and what he’s done, but I found myself having a hard time hating him, and instead loving him and rooting for him to break free from all the bad in his life and wanting him to find peace. When Amira shows up in his life, it changes him, and a complicated relationship takes place.
So much occurs in this book between Damien and Amira and their relationship definitely changes throughout this book. I adored Amira’s character and how strong she was, but how she didn’t let what happened to her change her. She was strong, fun, and full of life. She didn’t let things bring her down, and she tried to help those around her and embraced the love she had inside of her and for others. When things go bad for her, she protects herself and her heart, and I adored this about her.
There is so much angst and drama in this book, that you will love and hate Damien and want to strangle him at times, especially towards the end of this book. The way this book ends (it does end in a cliffy) will have you pulling your hair out, and counting down the weeks till the second book comes out, but trust me, it’s totally worth reading now. Damien’s story is beautiful, dark, twisted, and full of twists and turns. This book was nothing like I expected it to be, and I can’t wait for the conclusion to see what happens, as I have a feeling we are not through the angst and drama just yet!
