It was OK!
I’ve been looking forward to this book since the cover was revealed and I read the blurb. When it landed on my Kindle I was reading another book so I had to wait, and when I finally got around to reading it, I was in love with Lucas and Elianna‘s story, so why the three stars you ask? Well I’ll get to that.
Elianna is the mafia princess, the last in her family, she knows the world but that doesn’t mean she wants to be a part of it. She’s strong, independent, and an amazing character, but she’s just lost her best friend in the world, and is out to find out what really happened to him. When she moves to Boston and is in the path of his brother Lucas, there is an attraction, and but her life is also at risk. Lucas knows he should stay away from Elianna but he just can’t. There’s something about her that draws him in and he has a fierce need to protect her and be near her, and he just can’t stay away from her. These two are like oil and water, but they just seem to work.
When Elianna‘s life is in danger, Lucas will do anything to keep her safe, and spending time when these two are forced to spend more time together, you see how much they truly do belong to one another, but also how much they really do push one another. Elianna doesn’t back down, and Lucas isn’t used to being told no or having someone not do what he says, so things definitely do get interesting with these two. With Elianna in danger and these two trying to figure things out, the story was really getting good, and then a decision was made for Elianna to go home and everyone to back off for a while to see where the cards would lay and how everything would play out.. and then BOOM the book ended. I’m not sure if there is still an issue with the version that was sent to Kindles as I did update my eBook or if this was how the book was supposed to end and there is going to be a follow up, but how this book ended, it isn’t where I would have ended a book for a “cliff hanger” or anything. This book was just getting good and then it just ended, so I was kind of upset with how the story went. I was just like, umm what happened? If it wasn’t for that, this book probably would have been a five star read for me, but because of this and nothing to say oh there’s going to be another book, or any type of hint as to what happened, or why, I have no clue why we went through everything we did in this book and what the conclusion of the story is. I’m really hoping there is still an issue with the version of the book and we’ll get an update and I can my review, because I was disappointed with how this book ended as it stands now.
