I Absolutely Loved It!
After getting to know the Royals in Ella and Reed’s books, I knew I needed Easton’s story, and waited on pins and needles till Fallen Heir came out. This book definitely did not disappoint and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire read!
Easton is a senior this year, but he’s not the Royal in charge, that label is now Ella’s, but he’s fine with that. He’s bored though, and from the first chapter, you can see how restless he is. When he gets caught with his pants down, literally, and goes to try to fix the situation he’s in, he’s intrigued by the new girl Hartley, and decides to pursue her, but she wants nothing to do with him. Hartley is a mystery that Easton definitely wants to solve, and this book is all about him trying to win her trust, and messing up over and over again.
For every step forward that Easton makes with Hartley he ends up taking five back it seems. You can tell he has a good heart, but at the same time he’s selfish with what he does, he doesn’t really think about what he’s doing and how it affects her or others, and over and over again he ends up hurting the people around him. I will give him credit though for trying. Every time he messes up, he goes above and beyond to make it up to Hartley, but I loved how Hartley wasn’t easy on him. She never let him go beyond being friends with her and she kept her boundaries with him throughout most of the book. She loved to mess with him, especially with his “relationship” with Felicity, until that started to affect her as well.
I hated how everything seemed to be against these two though. Once things started to finally seem to be going somewhere between them, everything seemed to fall down in a royal fashion. Hartley started to open up and we finally found out what was going on with her family, and my heart broke for her, and when Easton tried to fix the problem, he only made it 10000000000x times worse, and then the ending when so many questions were left unanswered and then how it ended? Let’s just say I need the next book NOW!
Hartley and Easton’s book was amazing, and I really do want them together, but I have a feeling it is still going to be a LONG road for them. Easton may come off as the fun loving guy in the family, but the more you get to know him, you see it’s more of a show. He needs his person, and he’s really a lost soul. Hartley seemed to fill that spot for him, but if she’s going to be able to continue to be his person going forward. In some ways these two are very similar even though they seem so different. I really enjoyed their cat and mouse game, and definitely can’t wait to see how all of their story plays out in Cracked Kingdom!
If you’ve been a lover of this series, or are just jumping in now, Fallen Heir is a must read. You will laugh, want to scream, and will be tied up in all the drama, that you will forget everything else going on around you. Easton Royal is someone you can’t help but love in all of his brokenness! Go pick this book up today, trust me, you won’t regret it!
