I Kind of Loved It!
We met Lily and Jacob in Complicate Me, and I was excited to finally get their story. Forbid Me is a forbidden romance written at it’s finest!
In Alex and Lucas’s story we saw the connection between Lily and Jacob, and I had an inkling as to where things were going for them, but nothing would have prepared me for the ride M. Robinson took us on while reading this book! Lily is Lucas’s little sister and Jacob is his best friend. She’s been in love with Jacob forever, but Jacob knows how young she is (she’s 7 years younger), and keeps trying to deny his feelings for her.
This book is awesome in that it switched from the past to the present so we can see how they got to where they are now, as well as why Jacob made some of the decisions he did regarding Lily. I loved how Lily knew Jacob was her “lobster” and no matter what she never gave up her love for him, until he ruined it in one action. Seeing in the past it was Lily chasing after Jacob and trying to get him to admit her feelings, and in the present it is Jacob trying to win Lily over, it was pretty awesome to see their roles reversed in the relationship!
Lily may be so much younger than the “Good ‘Ol Boys” but she seems to be so much smarter than them! She didn’t let things stand in her way of what she wanted, and she proved to be a lot stronger than people gave her credit for. I always wondered what happened with Jacob and Lily after they left the hospital that night, and getting to see how much Jacob truly cared for Lily was awesome. He may have been stubborn and it may have taken him forever to realize how he felt, but deep down Jacob has always loved this girl.
As much as I wanted things to be picture perfect for these two as they got older, things definitely got in their way, and the drama and angst in this book make you want to scream and fall in love with them even more! Lily and Jacob’s relationship isn’t easy, their love for one another is, but everything else surrounding it is not. It takes them forever to get to where they are now, and I loved each and every moment of it. I am quickly falling in love with all of these characters and I can NOT wait to read Dylan’s story when it releases in a few months!
If you are looking for an angsty forbidden romance, than I highly suggest picking up Forbid Me today! I was unable to put this book down, the story just drew me in and didn’t let go till “The End”.
