I Kind of Loved It!
If you’re looking for something funny, romantic, and sweet, that will keep you hooked from beginning to end, then Miss Fix-It by Emma Hart is the book for you. This book has been sitting on my Kindle since release, but other books have been read before, and now I’m kicking myself for not reading it sooner, but maybe I waited because I read this one just when I needed it.
Kali is a strong character who takes no prisoners in her job or in her personal life. She’s runs the family building business, and loves what she does. She’s looking for love, but is not having any luck. She just has one rule… don’t get involved with the clients. When she walks into Brantley’s house to help with his children’s bedrooms she’s struck with how good looking he is, and makes a fool of herself over and over again. I couldn’t stop laughing at her internal dialogue as well as the things she said and did around him. Throw in Brantley’s twins Eli and Ellie and this book had me cracking up.
The tension between Brantley and Kali is undeniable, but there’s the whole thing with him being her client, and the thing with Kali not wanting kids, but she quickly becomes bonded with both of these adorable children and things get complicated. I loved watching her struggle with her relationship with the children as well as Brantley and watching her get into hilarious situations with with Eli and Ellie. The way Emma Hart wrote the kids was perfect. I couldn’t help but fall in love with them as well. The twins were written perfectly and they helped make this book perfect!
Watching the relationship between Kali and Brantley play out and the whole will they or won’t they thing became angsty at times, but in the end it was definitely worth it. Kali is hilarious and Brantley and the children are amazing. Throw in Kali’s mom and her nosiness and shenanigans and you have one crazy story. Once I picked this book up, I was unable to put it down. I fell hard for all of these characters and their banter with one another, as well as all of their stories. I laughed, I fell in love and I didn’t want this book to end. Emma Hart did an amazing job with this book and these characters. If you’re looking for a romantic comedy, I highly suggest picking up Miss Fix-It today!
