I Liked It!
Miss Hollywood is the third and final book in the Misses Trilogy and we finally get Clare’s book! She’s the quiet one of the three girls and I’ve been intrigued by her since we first met her in Miss Congeniality.
Clare is the Hollywood golden girl, the “It” girl that everyone wants to be. She’s the star of Maggie Beach, and also the go to girl for Rom-Com’s when she’s not filming her hit show with Raquel and Brea. Problem is she wants to break out of her type cast and do something edgier, she wants to break the mold and do something else but no one wants to give her the chance. With her life going down in shambles and her not wanting to share what’s going on, the golden girl is falling apart. When Raqel and Brea finally intervene and make her spill the beans on what’s going on and then get Brea’s brother Alex to help her, sparks fly between Alex and Clare and an amazing story is told.
Alex, if you’ve read Miss Congeniality, is Brea’s brother and has a difficult past. He’s been in jail, he’s tight lipped about why he has done what he’s done, and he’s now working on moving on with his life. He doesn’t think he’s good enough for Clare, but he can’t fight his attraction to her, but when she needs his help, he’s more than willing to help her, especially since it’s something he knows a lot about.
Immediately you can see how protective Alex is of Clare, even if he says things between them are just friends or casual, you can see that it clearly isn’t, and things are going to be complicated. Both of them are naive at times thinking things are going to just work out and everything will be ok. Both of them try to deny that they have feelings for one another, and once they realize it, it’s too late and they both end up hurt. Not only do they have to deal with their up and down relationship, but also Clare’s family issues.
Watching these two navigate through all the drama and family issues, and get away from the Hollywood limelight was awesome. I loved seeing this book take place mostly outside of the Hollywood scene and getting to see Clare back in her roots. I think it helped Alex see her as a normal girl instead of the “it” girl everyone knows her as and helped take her off the pedestal he kept her on for so long.
These two are the definition of opposites and somehow they just click. I loved watching them navigate their personal issues both separately and together. They are not a match made in heaven, but they are a match that just works. They balance each other out and keep each other sane. They work and I loved how they brought out the best in one another. Their chemistry is off the charts and Alex is sexy as sin in the bedroom! I also enjoyed catching up on the characters stories from the previous books as well.
I really enjoyed this trilogy and seeing each of the “misses” get their HEA. I didn’t know what I was getting into when I started this series a few days ago, but now I’m kicking myself of not reading it sooner. It’s a perfect series for those who love the Hollywood romances with a twist. I believe Marie Garner saved the best for last, I’m just sad to say goodbye to this amazing set of characters!
