I Absolutely Loved It!
Where to start with this book? When It’s Real by Erin Watt was just the book I needed to read right now. As soon as I picked it up, I was unable to put it down. I fell in love with Oakley Ford and Vaughn Bennett and their angsty story and everything that came with it!
When Oakley needs to repair his image to get his next record recorded and to fix his writers block, his management team has the wonderful idea to have him appear to be dating a “normal” girl. When Vaughn Bennett walks into his life, Oakley is not impressed, and Vaughn is not impressed with the Oakley that is real compared to the one she thought she knew from the media and her childhood dreams. The business agreement these two have makes things difficult for Vaughn since she has a boyfriend, but she needs the money to help her family so she goes forward with it, and her life changes in so many ways.
I loved the back and forth between Oakley and Vaughn and watching Oakley trying to figure out now to deal with Vaughn. She doesn’t seem interested in him, and this drives him insane, and how Vaughn doesn’t know how to deal with the Oakley she sees bits and pieces of when they are alone. I hated how she felt conflicted about her feelings with “W” since, let’s face it, he was a complete jerk, and how she couldn’t see what was right in front of her all along. Watching Vaughn bring out a whole new side of Oakley in this book was amazing and I fell in love with their awkward love story, and all of the secondary characters we got to meet in this story.
My heart hurt for Oakley many times throughout this story. He put himself out there and at times he did a horrible job at it. He didn’t know how to be normal, or to show his feelings, and at times he did a bad job of it. He really did want Vaughn, but he didn’t know what to do, and every time he tried to show it, he seemed to mess it up. Once these two seemed to get on the right page though, this story was magical. I didn’t care how tired I was, or anything else going on around me, I was so wrapped up in Oakley and Vaughn that nothing else mattered.
If you’re looking for an amazing love story that has a lot of angst, a bit of drama, some laughs, and one that will keep you attached to your kindle until the book is complete, I highly suggest one-clicking When It’s Real by Erin Watt today. I can’t recommend this book enough. I fell hard for these characters and their love story. I didn’t want to say goodbye, yet I loved how their story ended. I know this was a stand-alone, but I hope one day we can get a novella to see what Vaughn decided to do with her life! Definitely go grab your copy today, you will NOT regret it!
