I Liked It!
In the second installment of the Chicago Rebels Series we get a sort of second chance romance between the hardheaded Isobel Chase and Vadim, the Russian hockey player on her and her sisters team.
Eight years ago Vadim left Isobel hanging and then they were split apart to go and live their lives. A lot of misunderstandings and lusting later they are thrown together. Isobel has a lot to prove, along with her sisters and getting involved with Vadim is not an option if she wants to play it safe and have a chance at becoming a coach, but the pull is too strong, and the chemistry between them is too hot to handle.
One thing I loved about this book was the push and pull between Isobel and Vadim. Both of these characters are both strong willed and stubborn. They both know exactly what they want and aren’t afraid to go after it, but will not admit when they are wrong, which tends to be a problem when they are together. Since the two of them have a history and some of it’s good and some of it’s bad, there are some very tense moments in this book, which definitely leads to some extremely hot moments. Watching Vadim trying to figure out Isobel and fight her and want her at the same time was sweet because he could say he didn’t want her all he wanted, but his actions definitely spoke louder than his words in the earlier parts of this book, and Isobel could deny her feelings for Vadim all she wanted, but anyone could see how she felt about him.
Not only did we get to see these two figure out their story, but both of them had an individual journey they were going on in this book. Isobel trying to figure out what she really wanted in life, another shot at playing professional hockey, coaching, or something else. Vadim dealing with his mother and unanswered questions with her. Both of these have huge parts in their story and play into their complicated relationship and help round out this story in a beautiful manner.
I really enjoyed how this book was written, the angst, the banter between the characters, and the story overall was amazing. Seeing Harper and Remy (from Irresistible You) and how they were doing, as well as seeing the Rebels continue on their journey to making progress to the Playoffs, and setups to Dante’s and Violet’s books was awesome. I am becoming a huge fan of this series and can’t wait for more! If you’re looking for a sexy read with two stubborn characters who definitely give each other a run for their money, I highly suggest picking up your copy of So Over You by Kate Meader today!
