I Liked It!
Are you looking for an angsty second chance romance? Are you looking for a book that will have you falling in love, laughing, and wanting to pull your hair out with the struggles the characters go through? If you answered yes to these questions, then It’s Gotta Be You by LuAnn McLane is the perfect book to pick up!
As the second book in the Heartthrob series, this book can be read as a complete stand-alone, and is Oliver’s story. He’s the youngest of the Heart Brother’s, and after the success of a reunion of his and his brother’s boy band, he’s thinking of going solo, but there’s strings attached that his manager has in place, and he’s conflicted if he wants to deal with them. When the decision is made for him, and his fake girlfriend, Belinda Beal, shows up at his doorstep, he decides to go for it, and start the “fake” relationship again.
Belinda needs money, and she knows going back to pop music is how she’ll make it, even though she wants nothing to do with the the pop industry, when her heart lies with country music, but she has to do what she has to do to play the game, even if that means singing music she hates, and having another fake relationship with Oliver. She never expected the heat to be there with him, just like it was when they were younger and didn’t know what to do with it, and when she arrives the sparks fly. She can’t afford to have her heart broken, so she puts rules in place for their fake relationship.
I adored watching Belinda and Oliver think they were having a fake relationship while getting to know one another and figuring out their careers and if it was what both of them truly wanted. I really wished that Belinda would have been more honest with Oliver in why she was doing what she doing, like Oliver was with her. I think too many wires were crossed in communication with Belinda, with everyone and she got herself in too many hairy situations that she could have not if she would have just talked to people. But seeing her and Oliver develop such a close relationship with one another was beautiful and amazing. They both may have thought they could keep things physical and not fall in love, but anyone reading this book could see that was not going to be the case.
When everything goes sideways for these two, my heart broke right along with theirs. I wanted these two to be together so bad, and I was waiting to see how LuAnn McLane was going to make it right for them and for us as the readers, and I must say, the way she did it I really enjoyed. It was the perfect ending for these two characters. I truly enjoyed the ride that the author took us on, and Belinda and Olivers story. I laughed, I wanted to scream, and I truly enjoyed all of their story. Since I had read All I Ever Wanted, it was awesome getting to see Grady and Arrabella and seeing how they were doing, as well as Jimmy and James. I cannot wait to see their stories and who catches their eyes!
If you’re looking for a unique twist on rock star romances, I highly suggest the Heartthrob Series by LuAnn McLane! These are quick awesome reads that you will not be able to put down!
