I Liked It!
When I read Sweet Tea and Sympathy and got to know Carl and Marianne I really wanted to know their back story, and I was so excited to see we were going to get it in Save a Truck, Ride A Redneck. This novella is the perfect story for those of you who met Carl and Marianne in Margot’s book, and wanted to know more!
Marianne left Lake Sackett after high school to chase her dreams of becoming a lawyer, and hasn’t looked back. She left the man she loved, and a family who adores her. So when she comes back for a summer before starting law school, she isn’t so sure how things are going to go. When the first person she sees is Carl things definitely are tense. I loved how she tried to pretend that the past was the past, but you definitely knew that she still wanted him, but she couldn’t take back what she did all those years ago.
Marianne is having a hard time adjusting to being back in Lake Sackett and being around her crazy family, but at the same time, she’s loving having everyone around, and she’s starting to realize being home isn’t as bad as she thought it would be. Maybe all of her dreams she thought she had weren’t as important as the people she left behind. I loved watching her find herself again, and reconciling with the people she loved the most. Watching her and Carl trying to figure things out and the whole will they or won’t they was amazing to watch play out.
This book was a sweet novella and an amazing start to the series. You get to meet all of the amazing characters in the family, and some of the towns people as well. Carl and Marianne have a long way to get back to what they have, but this isn’t all about them reconciling, it’s also about Marianne truly figuring out what she wants in life as well. If you’re looking for a sweet novella to jump into, and a new series to fall in love with (all stand-alones) then I highly suggest picking up Save A Truck, Ride A Redneck by Molly Harper today!
I have received this book as a member of the XOXperts, XOXO After Dark’s official street team, in exchange for an honest review.
