I Liked It!
The Queen of Dauphine Street is a sweet, sexy, funny, and intriguing read that had me hooked from beginning to end!
We met Maddy in The King of Bourbon Street, she’s the crazy and witty ex-wife of Sol, and this is her story. She’s the rich, eccentric woman who never stays in the same place for a long period of time. When we catch up with her this time she’s in Dallas, and she meets Darren, a tall sexy construction worker. These two are complete opposites, but they just seem to click. When Darren finds himself in the need to get away, Maddy offers up her boat and a trip with her, and things heat up between these two.
Watching these two open up to one another while on the Capulet and seeing how broken their pasts were was heartwarming yet heartbreaking. Both of them have been through so much, and it made them both who they are today. I loved how these two really got to know one another and didn’t just jump right into bed with each other, we got to see the sexual tension build up between them and it made everything so much hotter between them. Watching Maddy really open up to Darren was beautiful as well, especially since this is something she really doesn’t do, and you could tell she was different with him, and it scared her a bit.
Not only do these two have chemistry and a great story together, but we also get to deal with their ex’s. Sure Maddy’s best friend is her ex Sol and we get to see him and Rain again in this book and they embrace Darren with open arms, but Darren’s ex, Kelly is the reason him and Maddy are together in the first place. It’s a mess and how it all ends is priceless! I really enjoyed how this story was woven so beautifully and everything came together perfectly. The characters were written in a genuine way and were relatable. I didn’t want to hate Maddy and her spoiled rich girl ways, and I wanted to be her friend, not just because of Cappy either! This was a beautifully written story that had me hooked and the only gripe I had was that it ended too soon! I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Maddy and Darren, but the epilogue was perfection! If you’re looking for a hot, steamy and sweet and romantic read all wrapped into one, definitely pick up The Queen of Dauphine Street by Thea de Salle today!
I have received this book as a member of the XOXperts, XOXO After Dark’s official street team, in exchange for an honest review.
